I assume you are using Windows?
If you are then the link below will get you the Winzip software to open your zip file.
No good if you are on Mac or Linux (but I assume your low knowledge means Windows user)

You need a third party software called winzip / winrar / pkunzip etc to do so. However, windows me and xp have inbuilt zip file handling capability in which they treat a zip file like another folder.

Incase you are not seeing the zip file as a meaningful icon, it means none of these are installed on your computer. If you have Windows ME or later, go to Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs - Windows components. In Tools, the option of enabling zip folder is there. Select that.

Or you can download any of the free / sharewares from the net.

Your WinXP windows explorer has a native support for zip files.

If your windows do not recognize zip files then download WinZip http://www.winzip.com/downwzeval.htm

You need a extractor like winace, winzip, winrar.

If you do, go to where the file is saved

right click on the file

go to "extract here"

then you can open the file

If you want the file somewhere else on your computer

double-click choose the location you want it to be saved in then click extract.
