The only birth-control I really have ever tried is Yasmin....it works for me. I didn't get put on birth control because of sex (I'm only 19 and a virgin) but because of my period cramps. They were horrible. But now I can barely tell that I'm on my period at all. Though for the first month it does mess up your hormones a bit, like causing you to get a break out in acne...but since that first month I have been acne free. And when my mom got put on it it also helped her to lose a few pounds. I don't guess you care about this stuff, but I assume that it will control birth also....after all, it is called birth control :P

Here is a site I found that might help: http://www.yasmin.com/html/index.html

Good luck!

depo shot.

Pros: only worry about it every 3 months. No more periods ( a little spotting sometimes when the time comes to get another shot). No weight gain. No moody changes. No side effects really.

Cons: You have to remember to get it done every 3 months. It's a shot that you have to go to the doctor for. eww! I hate shots, and I'm in the military so I have to get it done in a military hospital. *ugh :(

(I always make a big deal out of shots. But you can get it in ur butt so it doesnt hurt as much)

I'm 21 (almost 22) and I've been getting it since I was 18

I personally get the depo provera injection. It has a low dose of hormones, I only have to get it 4 times a year, its very effective, and the side effects are minimal (headaches, slight weight gain over the course of a year). I can't use the Norplant, patches, rings, IUD or Pills because of my family history of blood clots. Depo is the way to go.

Also, your period goes away. I havent had one for like 2 years.

Natural birth control. I am fortunate to know when I am ovulating and I have regular periods. I've tried the pill and my body has never done well on them. I tried other things and they were too messy, so we went natural. We have only two children and the youngest is in his 20's-so I know it works.

I really loved the Depo Provera injection because I only had to worry about it once every three months and it stopped my period. One bad side effect is that it caused weight gain. I was informed I had to change mine and I switched to Seasonale. Even though I take a daily, one advantage is the I only get my period every three months now. That to me is a huge advantage.

I liked the cervical cap. It fits over your cervix and has a little cup that is effective in catching blood if you'd like sex during your period w/o the mess. But you need a spermicide with stuff in it to protect you from aids if you aren't sure of your partner's status.
Ask your GP about it.

I use Mirena IUD.

pros: never have to think about it for 5 yrs, no PMS, no cramps, and a very light period.

cons: little expensive not covered by all insurance companies, and they recommend you have had at least one child before having one inserted, also spotting off and on for the first 3 months after you get it
