when i try to go to my home page,i instead get taken to iehomepages.com,i've tried 5 different programs so far,they did a great job with everything else,but didn't quite get the job done

There are many free scanners - I would suggest this one -as it checks for virus', malware, vuneralbilities all at once (takes a while but well worth it)

Also, if you already have an UP TO DATE (important) virus program then start the machine in SAFE MODE (by pressing f8 as it first boots up - when the black and white screens are showing - press it every 1-2 seconds until you get an option screen showing safe mode..etc)
Then run the virus program - and change it to automatically delete the files and/or fix boot sectors.

Did you try to go to tools/internet options and resetting your homepage to what you want. For online virus scan try the free online virus scanner at http://www.bitdefender.com
