Hey Lumper (or anyone else) well this work if my shoes are over 5 years old but are like new (because I only wore them a few times, and then I stupidly decided to help paint home walls with WHITE PAINT IN NEW SHOES!!...I KNOW...I KNOW...STUPID...!! But I decided to keep them hoping to one day find an answer! Yay!

If you use any type of solvent it will mess up you shoes, i know this sounds funny, but you need to put you shoes in a plastic bag, and put the shoes in the freezer to 4 - 6 hours preferably overnight, then take them out and gently pick the frozen paint off the shoes using a safety pin, the bag is because most people don't want shoes in their freezer - lol - i have done this many of times and it works great. good luck and enjoy spending the money you save from not having to buy new shoes.

In a "well ventilated area" you could try fingernail polish remover, lighter fluid, or BBQ starting fluid in a very small amount to see if it dissolves. If it does you may be able to remove the paint BUT if the shoe material is man made an not real leather you could melt the material. Some paints can be washed away with soap, water and some working with a cleaning brush. Some sand paper (about 150 grit) could remove it and perhaps the leather may need some small bit of coloring from shoe dye. At times ice cubes or a freezing can allow the paint to peel off. If the appearance is not an issue you could possibly "shave" it off with a knife (be carefull and always cut away from self). I would love to know how this works out.

Try a "Suede Brush", it's a little brass wire brush for cleaning suede

Let the paint dry and scrape with a knife.
