well the acceleration rate DUE to gravity is 9.8 m/s. and acceleration is related to gravity because when something is falling, it gains speed.

It is relavent because downward acceleration is -9.8 m/s which also is the force of gravity.

Acceleration is caused by gravity. A falling body falls at 32 ft/sec/sec this is known as 1G. It means that as well as falling at 32ft/sec it is accelerating at the same rate, so at the end of the 2nd second it is falling at 64ft/sec and then 96ft/sec and so on until a force acts on the falling body to stop its acceleration such as air resistance.
