In the classes I teach, I'm most impressed with the people who are genuinely -trying-, regardless of whether or not they're my "top students." Teachers -know- who in their class really wants to learn, they -remember- the students who ask them questions when they need help, and speaking personally, they truly -appreciate- students who treat them and the class with respect (i.e., making sure you're there on time, paying attention when the teacher OR another student is talking, accepting -responsibility- if you get a low grade rather than 'begging' the teacher to change it for you, etc).
And again speaking personally I'd like to re-emphasize the "treating the class with respect" point: I don't believe there's anything that can make me as UNIMPRESSED with a student as seeing him or her be rude to, or pick on, another student. Remember that your teachers are usually pretty darned aware of what you all are doing there in class whether you realize it or not; because our responsibility is to -all- the students it can be a really bad idea to be unkind to your classmates. Of course, conversely, going out of your way to treat them with kindness and respect can often "impress" your teacher quite a lot =)

The best way is to maintain good student-teacher relationship. Inter-personal communication, regard and discipline would definitely impress them.

just turn in work, NEVER be tardy, and ask how they are how there day is going, bring them an apple or a get well card when they don't feel so great, at holidays bring them gifts that are school related like a #1 teacher mug for coffee or to store pencils in, a Barns and noble gift card, Powell's books gift card, a relaxing candle that well calm them when the day in hectic, or just a simple card telling them how great they are.
on the other hand if you are the student that the teacher dislikes and you want them to like you, then simply improve upon what the dislike about you if they dislike that you don't turn in work then turn in your work, and then once they gain your trust bring them apples and cards. make sure they feel like you appreciate them.

Hi,
You don't have to impress people by what you do.
Be your self, don't fool around at school work hard at what you do and do it right. School is for learning purposes and signifies to what you will be and do in the future when you go to get a job.
I hope this helps you out
