I am currently seeking employment, I have been actively seeking employment for about 3-4 months now. I have applied to roughly 15 different places, just about the only places that are hiring around where i live, and I have not heard a thing from any of them. Wait, I'm incorrect, I heard something from one place in a post card saying that the have my file on file, which is basically insinuating a no. So should I be angry about this, because frankly I am.

no resume, first job, and im applying to entry level positions that a 16 year old kid could get no problem. And I have slight difficulty going around too much, no source of income, and i have to pay for gas, which runs up there a bit. Im 19 and still live with my parents. Full time college student. so its a little difficult for me to go out everyday

Know how you feel... do have a resume? Monster.com and Yahoo! Hot Jobs have helped me few times. I've applied to many places since May of this year and haven't got much hope for the moment. Best thing to do is go around the mall or strip malls to see who's hiring. Now's a good time to start because some will want people for the Holiday seasons.

You've been looking three or four months and you've only applied at 15 places? You should be pulling that a week, at least, so I'm not sure how actively you've been seeking. If you haven't heard from them, they need to hear from you. When you're looking for work you don't just drop off a resume (or application) and wander off. You ask to speak to the hiring manager, ask questions about the job, show you're interested and actually know something about the job. Don't wait for them to call, you call them every couple of days if you have to. Also, even if you're just picking up and dropping off resumés, dress well, depending on the job, it doesn't necessarily mean suit and tie, but business casual at least.

I don't know what right be angry you have, if you're not what they're looking for, they're not going to hire you. If those are the only places where you live, you may need to try further out and commute a little, depending on how rural your area is.

What's the point in being angry - who is to blame?

You've been looking for work 3 or 4 months which translates into roughly 20 weekdays a month time 4 months that is 80 work days and you have only applied to 15 places? Gotta get out there more. Make a goal of applying at one place every day. Even place you feel you do not want to work - sometimes life surprises you.

15 is a very small number for 3-4 months. Even at three months that is only 5 places a month. approx. one a week. Need to try a bit harder. Also try making changes to your resume, it can make a world of difference.

Anger is not the solution. I think you are doing everything right here howwever results are not in favor. May be a change should be made. Maybe get a job that is not in the field that you would like. So that it gets you for some time unitll surely you get a call for an interview.

you've been unemployed for 3-4 months and have only made 15 applications!?... you've only applied in your local area!?....only to places you know are hiring!?.... think you need to try harder! try applying to EVERYWHERE... make it more like 15 applications a week, don't just apply to the jobs you really want, apply to everything you're capable of doing. even if it's just interview practice it's wor th it!

No. Your employment, or lack thereof, is "at will". Which means you are afforded NO consideration, employed or not, with regards to your employment (or not). You can be fired because the boss doesn't like your socks. You agreed to this when you signed your employment application, you just don't remember.
