Well I wish to become a Counsellor and work with young children...

What I have found out about the path I will have to take is that I need a first degree and then a Masters level in an accredited course for me to enter the BACP - British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy

So, I believe that you would need to take a similar path where you have to complete an appropriate course that is accredited to the BACP and will lead to you being a qualified (chartered) psychotherapist upon completion. The BACP website should have more information on which courses they recommend and pathways to get there.

Most courses include personal therapy for you and a certain number of hours supervised therapy with clients

One thing I noticed was while I was searching for Post Graduate courses in counselling that some of the courses specific to working with children required a minimum age limit of 25 years and some required experience in the profession before you could undertake the course.

Its best to check out all the avenues to see which suits you best

Hope this helps
