Chewy, Well done for booking the appt, I had exactly the same thing some years ago and it was simply a blocked sweat gland, apparently this is very common, especially with women now using deodorant so regularly, I recently had a mole removed as my consultant advised that in cases like this only 1 in every 100 is ever something serious so the numbers are in your favour, luckily my results came back fine and I now have a very nice scar to prove how brave we women can be! If they suggest removing it, go for it, mine was painless and put my mind at rest. My thoughts will be with you xx

Hi Chewy,

It's good that you are going to the docs and no matter what you decide, still keep your appointment. This is very common, it could be a cyst, although it's unlikely. It is probably a blocked gland/pore or ingrowing hair. Sometimes it's a sweat gland that has become blocked. It's common because most women shave regularly and use a deodorant. If you have being using talcum powder it would be best not too. The pores are quite open when we have shaved and then when we apply roll on or talc, sometimes the pores close containing the substance we have used. We just don't notice it until it becomes a small solid lump. Sometimes they can become quite painful. Try not to squeeze it as that can really hurt and often not make it any better. Most of the time they go away on their own, sometimes they are there for quite sometime. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Hope this helps you relax a little.

Could be a lymph node - hopefully nothing serious. When I was 23 I had lumps in my neck - 3 or 4. Nothing else. Went to the doctor and it was just infected lymph glands - so I had to take antibiotics for a while. Try not to worry because then you end up getting upset and that won't help. Good luck.

Well done on:

a) finding it

b) making a Doctor's appointment

and c) sharing it with us.

Hope all goes well - and thank you for setting a good example to all of us and especially to other young women. No point in worrying you have had some very encouraging words from other people. Chill, enjoy the weekend and put it out of your mind as far as possible until Monday.

Best wishes.

If you shave under your arms it could be an ingrowing hair, but it's still best to get it checked out. I'm sure you ll be ok. Good luck for Monday.

I had a lump, went to my GP who referred me to my local hospital, had an x-ray, and some fluid drawn and tested. I was told it was nothing and did I want it removed or left. I decided to have it removed.
