this should work.
1) stand six inches away from mirror and tilt your chin up so that when you look down your nose into the mirror , you can see the entire eyelid.
2) Dab conceler or dust transluscent on your upper lids ( so it wont clog pores). Blend well with a sponge or lightly pat with a finger tip to cover vein to prevent creasing.
3)before applying eye liner, dtermine you eye shape. if eyes are close-set or round line only the outer corners. other wise rim the entire upper eye lid.
4) soften the pencil tip by rolling it between your fingers.
5) gently pull your eyelid taut at an upward angle. Beginning at the inner corner , draw small, connecter dashes along the top lashes. Be sure to stay close to the roots so there is no skin visble between lashes and the liner. to make eyes look bigger , extend the liner slighty beyond the outer corners.
6) Brush a matching powder shadow on top of the liner to keep it from rubbing off.
7) Soften theline wit a cotton swab by rubbing it slighty up and out at the corners.
8) use cottan swab to fix mistakes. for larger messe dip it in make remover or vaseline

Pull the outer corner of your eyelid and look down. This smooths the area, making it easier to draw a line with less skipping. Pencils and gels can get you a more natural look (dot it on close to the lashline and smudge). Liquid liner may glide on better, but can produce a harsher line. If you take a thin brush and draw over the eyeliner with a similar colored eyeshadow, then blend with a cotton swab, it will help soften the line and make it last longer.

Experiment.
I love just using a small almost short haired angled brush in dark brown matte eyeshadow. Tap the brush handle to shake of excess powder. Don't get into the habit of pulling your eyelid!!... that sensitive skin will show that nasty technique's effects when you are in your 30's or 40's (wrinkles).
Simply look normally into the mirror and carefully dab and brush the eyeshadow at your eyelash root. Not too thick and don't go too close towards your nose. Blend smoothly. It's a nice soft look that can be made more dramatic with darker shadow for an evening look.

It takes a bit of practice. Make a line with an eye pencil RIGHT up against your upper lash line. When you're finished, take a Q-tip and wet it a little. Go over the line so it's smudged. Don't line the bottom lashes. Viola! Don't practice when you need to look your best. Try and try and with these tips, you'll have it in two or three tries. Good luck.

use liquid liner!! the easiest is Eye Definer Felt-Tip Eye Marker by physicians formula beacuse it has a felt tip so its like drawing on your eye. a good tips is to draw small dots close to lash line and conect them very slwly. for a more natural look apply the liner closer to ur lashline to make your lashes look thicker also use liner 1st then use a sheer eyeshadow to complement your skintone and fetures. Just be sure that if using liquid liner u dont imedatily open ur eye because it could smudge. instead wait a few seconds for it to dry.

I'm not going to be much help to you 'cos i'm not that good at it either. What i don't understand is how come my 12 year old daughter can do it perfectly? Also for many years my son was a Goth and he can do it with no problem too!
I've heard that a khol pencil is the best to use as they are nice and soft.
But my recommendation to you would be to go to one of the makeup counters in Boots or a department store (i.e Debenhams or Dingles), and ask them to show you.

i pull my eye lid a little tauter by pressing a finger outwards from the corner of my eye, then apply from the outer corner to the middle and then smudge. I use a great clinique pencil with a smudger which makes it really easy. Once you've got the hang of it it's easy

position yourself in front of the mirror and pull the lash line taught then draw along the very base of the lashes, just do the outer corner at first, if the look is too harsh then smudge it slightly or try a grey or brown shade

I know what you mean. It is difficult at first. Try using a gel eye liner. Bobi Brown do a good one. It's much easier to put on.
Don't try to draw a line all in one go, do it in stages and smudge with your finger or a cotton tip afterward.
