It just seems our desire to discover has been limited to a "i know it all" attitude. But i could be wrong.

Scientists are no more or less arrogant than anyone else. There are always a few brave (usually young) souls willing to buck tradition and research "new" areas, and who are laughed at for doing so. Many come up with nothing. A rare few manage to change science forever. For example, the Big Bang theory was originally ridiculed by mainstream scientists (in fact the very name 'big bang' was a derogatory one given by one of those mainstream scientists). But today the Big Bang theory *is* mainstream science.

Perhaps I am being pessimistic, but I don't think there is a way to "fix" this, since it is just human nature. Besides, we need skepticism in science.
