4 years for your undergraduate degree

Time in residency depends on what you are specializing in, I believe. I image that for a neurologist, it would be a crazy long time because the brain is so complex.

You need a four year Bachelor degree with pre med classes. You should be going on college visits right now. Meet with admissions, take a tour of the campus and meet with someone from the pre med program. You would still need to pick a major. You are not going to be able to shadow a neurologist. Just volunteer at a hospital. See how it works, if you feel comfortable working there.
