No I don't think Star Trek is an interpretation of the future. I could be seen as one of many possible futures for the human race just like Babylon 5, Firefly, the X-Men, and several other movies and TV shows. They are just possibilities purposed by the creators of the shows. But the one future event that is assured is God's judgment on the world and the return for His church/people.
God Bless,
Chris

Well the ideals of Star Trek are a great thing for the evolution of the human race....the ideal of everyone getting along in peace where ther is no descrimination on race,colour,religion.....etc,etc
If that ever happens i would love to be around to see it and world peace should be the ultimate goal for mankind.
Hmmm....technology wise it's happening right now
Hypersprays are now being used in some hospitals...
What do you think a communicator(from the original series) is...well if you picture it and then hold it to your head you have a mobile phone.
Warp drive has been proven as a scientific fact but we just don't have a ship capable of withstanding the pressure of the velocity but it has been proven
But the greatest one is the microchip, before Star Trek that was a dream and it inspired people to dream and now microchips, they're in everything they run the planet.

I want to believe that humanity has the ability to grow into the future portrayed by Star Trek, however, it took a third world war, the breaking of the speed of light, and first contact with another species for the future to shape up in Gene Rodenberry's image. Unfortunately, first contact will probably end up like it did in Enterprise's episode " Mirror Darkly"

The human race is far too good, honest and decent in Star Trek to be even a remotely accurate vision of the future

Not any more than Star Wars, Alien, Close Encounters or Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone

It's very doubtful. We don't seem to even have the resources to build one comfortable transport for many people through space, never-mind one that goes that fast, has teleportation and other similar technology (phasers that can spun or kill, holodecks, food replicators, etc.)
It also seems to lack most of the greed of humans and almost all aliens are humanoid, which would be a fairly strange coincidence, if aliens did appear.

No, Sci-Fi never gets it spot on, but Star Trek is probably the closest.

It's more like a hopeful interpretation of man's future.
