If your daughter is into mondern techonlogy, here are some ideas.
1. Computer Games- The Sims 2 is a fantastic game. It's rated T, and you can inform her that she's getting older, she could be able to play them. You can read more about it at www.sims2.com and it's a great game. I have fun. It's like a game where you create people (sims), and then move into a home, and live their life. I have the Sims where it isn't so complex and it's cheaper if you want that. I have all of them, and I enjoy that...it's for any gender too.
2. iPod- There's a new iPod nano and they come in colors. It is a bit pricy, (At least 200$)
3. Cellphone- If she doens't have one, maybe this could be a fun thing.
4. Tickets to the up-coming concert. Maybe some concert tickets!
5. Digital Camera- If she likes taking pictures, this is a great gift. I got one for my 13th christmas. Easyshare is a simple camera and it's a good digital camera with great quality.
6. remodel her room..a bit pricey, but a remodel room for a teenager is a good gift.
I have all these items above, and so I shall share with you!

how about a prepaid cell...kids love them and the card (minutes) are only like $20 and last for a while. That way she might feel as though she is getting some independence and you actually have all the control. Set up a way for her to do chores to earn a minute card for her to add more minutes to her phone. The phones are only about $30 so it would be fairly inexpensive to give her. Good luck

trust me, my little sis, whos about that age, loves music, so one time, I got her like, a Itunes GIft card for about 25$ and she really liked it. that, and just get her another gift card to a store she really likes.
PS: u don't have to have an ipod, cuz you can just bun the music onto a CD. Don't buy her CD's. Let her chose her music
