Eur$ 2000 would get you about Aud$ 3322.40 but this can change.Anyway with that amount of money you could easily live for a couple of months as long as you do the usual backpacking thing.(You know, hostels, people you meet can put you up for a couple of days, eating cheaply etc.).If your into the high life you'd better wait until a very rich relative decides to go meet their maker! LOL!.It's not really all that expensive if you don't go and do things on impulse.Just manage your money well,ie budget a certain amount for each day/week and stick to it and enjoy your visit.

hello to you groucho,Australia is such a beautiful country with so much to see and a wonderful variety of experiences to have.it can be very expensive in travel I'm going up to townsville soon and the return ticket was $300 and I'm flying from the same state ,to drive it would take 12 hrs but flying 1 1/2hrs.it really depends on how much of Australia you wanted to see,i would save at least double what you have...fruit and veggies are expensive because of the little rain i don't know what it is like where you live but i did my shopping yesterday and apples were $5.98 kilo i haven't bought banana's for a good 6 months as they range from $10 /$7 kilo because of the cyclone up in the tropics in march i think it was ,do your homework first check out what states you want to see but do make the trip so much to see and do
