If i could give advice for any one thing: never buy belt drive decks! Direct drives are a must!! Get from local audio dealer or check the freeadds or ebay. Technics 1210s/1200s are the best. 25 years plus and running leading the market and in turntablism contests. but, as i said if you are to get any deck even if they aren't technics, get direct drive!

Don't buy him any.
As soon as your son gets them he will turn into an anti social kid, he will just grunt at you, even if you buy him head phones he will hang them around his neck, so you will still get to hear the noise. Don't expect him to leave the room in until he wants the loo or for you to feed him.
Expect complaints from your neighbours when your not in due to the base and the constant scratching.
Expect your pets will run away.
Oh and two last things, find a decent family therapist, and get to the doctors for your Valium, good luck!

For what my son calls a deck, it's the top of a skateboard, they can get very artsy these days. Any good Skate N Surf shop.

If he has a video games console then some thing for that, like the hot medal of honour interest or a Lynx present set, it makes them experience like they're grown up, plus it will conceal the stench of maximum young toddlers- socks

I'm assuming that he means skateboard decks. My son wanted the same last Christmas, so we got him a gift card to Industrial and let him pick out his own deck.

ebays good for second hand ones and cheaper, otherwise you could go to your closest musical instument shop, they usually have them in those sort of places, generally with things like this the more expensive the better the equipment.

I would ask him first! Its probably turntables though, I would definately advise direct drive decks, technics are very good, you should try looking in electrical or music shops.
