if you want truley free ringtones, your gonna be disappointed. the best thing you could do is connect to your network, pay 10-25 cents a page, look under the "free" section, and pay a 50 cent download fee. i could give you a free site, but if you dont want to crash your computer, dont download anything from this site
www.realtones.com (might have to pay now, not sure)

Okay when i worked for Cingular we all knew this trick you could do. i don't know if it still works because word got around.
1st step
Get to www.walmart.com and look in their music section like you're looking to buy a cd.
2nd step
Right click with IE on the link to the short sound file they have set up as a sampler select "copy shortcut".
3rd step
Bring up Outlook or any e-mail program BUT MAKE REAL SURE you have deleted all sigs and anything else that may show up in the body of the e-mail like the "do you yahoo" tag at the bottom of Yahoo mail.
4th step
Paste the link in the body of the e-mail and send it to your phone's text messaging e-mail addy for cingular it's your phone number with no spaces or dashes @mobile.mycingular.com
5th step
Send it and wait
6th step
If your phone has a goto option when a text message shows a link select goto. If it doesn't you have a cheap phone you're out of luck go home it won't work next time don't let your momma pick your phone.
7th step
The phone will ask you to open the browser or it may just start downloading. If it asks then yes open the browser if it doesn't then let it download.
8th step
Save the download with your ringtones and congratulations you got that for FREE if you have a data plan. If you don't then why'd you try it in the first place?
REMEMBER KIDS!
This will ONLY work if walmart.com is still using MP3's as sound samples if not scour the net to find an online music store that does.
Another trick is to download Opera Mini free from www.opera.com and search music sites for mp3 music samples. Since Opera can't play them it defaults to letting the phone download them. I went to www.quinlanroad.com with Opera and downloaded some Loreena Mckennitt samples as ringtones in the Explore The Music section.
Make sure you all have unlimited data plans before using Opera because it's a REAL web browser for cell phones not like the crappy one that came with it.
The only draw back is these free tones take up space fast so don't go crazy downloading.

Go to tonethis.com and download the program. Make your own ringtones. All you have to pay is for the internet charges but the ringtones are free. I haven't had any spyware, adware problems and it works wonderfully!!! Try it!!!

be very, very careful of those so called ads that offer free ring tones!...my son saw an ad for them on the internet and he tried to get a few, only to find out later that once he signed up for the one he wanted he automatically was signed up for a subscription that costs 9.99 a month and it was charged to his phone, and he even has a prepaid phone. read he fine print very carefully. nothing is ever free! there is always a catch!
