Yup get the MSL (master subsidy lock) code from TMobile tech support if you ask for it they have to give it to you the FCC says so. Then get a Cingular SIM card and set it up for Cingular service. For data access with Cingular contact Cingular tech support to get the IP info so you can access Cingular servers for web access they won't say no that's extra money for them if they give you a hard time remind them they make money off the plans not the phones. You don't need a contract but if you do a year contract you can upgrade to a better phone with a discount in one year and they tend to treat you better if you have one. (hey all cell phone companies are that way)

For web browsing at it's best download Opera Mini if available for the phone from www.opera.com and then you can access pretty much any website you want.

Since Cingular and TMobile use GSM networks you can buy unlocked GSM phones from the manufactuer like nokia.com and use those with no contract.

Nokia's Communicator series makes the Sidekick look like a freakin' childs toy.

Unfortunately you will not be able to use any Sidekick on any network other than T-Mobile's network simply because T-Mobile as a company does not unlock the sidekicks simply because it is a T-Mobile exclusive device.

Good luck!
