After the radification of the US Constitution by the various states, George Washington became the first president of the USA, unopposed.
By the way, did you know that George was actually born in Texas, contrary to popular belief? And, when he was 12 his father asked him if he had cut down the cherry tree. "Father, I cannot tell a lie," George replied, "Yes, I cut down the cherry tree."
George's father replied, "Well, George, if you can't tell a lie, we cannot live in Texas." So, they moved to Virginia. :-)
