I am in a messed up situation. My ex was going to terminate his parental rights in court next year, but he died. I have a loving fiancee who wants to be the father of my daughter, but we aren't sure what to do now. Any help would be greatfully appreciated!

If he died it seems unecessary to terminate his parental rights as he can't exercise them from beyond the grave. You fiance can adopt your daughter now or when you get married - and then he will have parental rights....

What you should do is go and speak with an attorney first and for most. That is if his family members are problem makers. If they are not that is when you take charge of the situation. My father died when I was 14 and my step father took over all parental rights of my father even though my birth father did not sign any papers. if he had gone up to a court house and stated that he wanted to sign over his rights then they should have that on file.
