what do you think will happen after that? Are we living in the golden age of humanity?

Over-Population specialist Paul Ehrlich, Carl Sagan and most natural scientists have been predicting that for a long time. In 50 years, at our current rate of growth, we'll grow from 6.5 billion to 10 billion souls....totally unsustainable by the earth's natural resources. There will be zero fossil fuels, zero coal and other basic resources. The few remaining natural resources (in particular water) will be fought over by the world's population. Only a cataclysmic event will bring population levels down to sustainable levels (wars, pestilence, or whatever). Can technology save the day, perhaps, but at our consuming rate, the train wreck is well known. Will we change our destructive habits? probably not, the chasm between the third world countries and the 'rich have's' will only get deeper.

We have been scheduled to run out of resources within 20-30 years for as long as I con remember. We keep finding more.

I heard this week by 2030, we would need 2 planets worth of resources EVERY YEAR. Who needs the comedy channel?

Pay attention! What the WWF said was that at the current rate and type of consumption, we would create more waste than nature could recyle to resources. It is highly speculative.

I really don't know what will happen after that. I suppose we'll try to impose ourselves on a new planet (possibly the moon). All I can say to the scientists attempting that is good luck. I doubt we'll dry up ALL of our natural resources by then, but we're getting there quickly. Personally, I plan to be dead by then. ;)

Good old media scare tactics!! They say and do things to get the ratings- there may be little truth in it- we are working on finding and using alternate energy sources- and we should be taking care of what we have anyway= and not wasting or poisoning it- D

the thought it self gives scope for alternative search.
hence no worry so long as the humanity exists.

Energy prices will go up, and we'll stop air conditioning doghouses and microwaving our underwear.
