Guys - my school requires all the boys wear their shirts tucked in and a belt. You can wear jeans, but they have to have a belt. Does any other guys go to a school that does this? Don't you hate it? I think a belt is uncomfortable and they make us wear them up high and tight so guys won't droop their pants.

I don't droop my pants. And some of the teachers go around and do "thumb checks" and if they can pull the side of your jeans out an inch, they make you tighten your belt. They only do it to guys that have loose belts on. So you have to keep it tight, or else they do that, then it's embarassing.

My nephew is in middle school and they require uniforms. Their shirts are Polo Style. They make them tuck them in which tightens their pants. They wear belts. We love the uniform policy. It's a little much the shirt tucking if the aren't drooping. Actually glad they don't let them go w/droopy drawers, but the extra pants size with tucking is ridiculous. His elementary school was uniform w/same type of shirts. They didn't have to tuck and they were neat.

Fair enough, They're saving you from yourselves. If you want to droop your strides so your undies show then you are an idiot. If you legitimately think your belt is uncomfortable, loosen it a notch or two. It has got me beat why people want to be fashionalbe by wearing the least practical clothing or wearing their clothing in the least practical way.

Sounds like a darned good idea to me. In the Fifties we had to dress like that, and I am living proof it didn't kill us.
Plenty of studies have been done to prove people, including kids, tend to behave differently when they dress differently. Our public schools are often places of hell for a significant number of kids, while the smart alecks make their lives miserable. Anything which will make things better suits me.
I have always wondered how a school can function when the as yet ignorant and uneducated kids are in charge. They have no idea what life is going to be like, but want to decide how they should be educated for a life they don't yet know.

I assume it's so that you don't wear your pants hanging off your butts. Be thankful you still get to wear jeans. If it makes you feel any better, I work in a grocery store and they are making it mandatory that we wear khaki pants, red shirts, brown or black shoes with socks and belts to match. Belts are mandatory. Get used to it!

Better to dress this way than have some butthead smuggle a handgun into the school, don't you think? This is the reason behind this dress code and it all started with the Colombine shootings.

It all depends on how good looking you are, but ya, guys usually go crazy after teen girls and the whole uniform/skirt thing.

Suck it up and deal. You're going to be told how to dress for the rest of your life, whether you work at Wal-Mart or a bank or whatever. School is your job. Be a professional.
