Hmm, the people that claimed they "never noticed" etc are presumably incredibly imperceptive folks. It is NOT racist to observe differences in someone.

Incidentally, Whoopie Goldberg isn't white - just in case you hadn't noticed that either. She is however an utterly fab actress :)

As someone pointed out there IS a reason - an additional fold of skin, so there was intelligence both in the question AND in the answer.

Some folks just love to squeak on about racism when, in fact, an intelligent question is being asked. Why is that?

Anyway, back to the question, Roxy perhaps knows a lot more about this than me, I was under the impression that the difference was that the orbital septum (the layer that holds back the fat) extends a little further down towards the eyelid margin.

More info:- http://www.middletoncosmetic.com/asian.html

There are numerous differences between Caucasian and Asian eyes. Most of them are unseen muscular and other underlying tissue differences, such as the increased fat content and somewhat thicker skin of Asian eyes. Often the crease of the upper eyelids is incomplete or non-existent, allowing the skin to hang over the lashes and conceal much of the eye.

regrettably squinting will do not something yet pressure your eyes and reason your sight issues. A tip I received from a gown artist once (in case you ever want to attempt it) is to apply eyeliner to assist intensify your eyelids to seem more effective Asian. in case you make the most of it as on the brink of the eyeline as accessible and go all the way into the nook of your eye giving it a level (quite) at both ends that would want to help?

The real question is why are people different isn't it?

Some would say it's environmental. Some would say it's evolution. Some would point to a religious answer.

I hope the origin of the question is mere curiosity and not rooted in racism.

The answer is unlikely to be found here, but it does raise the opposite question: Why aren't yours?

The eyes are not technically slanted, but have an additional fold of skin covering the outer lid, referred to as the epicanthus. Through natural selection and adaptation, the human body makes adjustments to protect it from various environments such as extremely sunny climates.

Why are white's eyes so round? are they staring bug-eyed at things all the time? =P
Asian eyes aren't squinted, they are just shaped differently from yours (or yours are shaped differently from theirs). Get over it.
