I have heard that you are not supposed to heat it up, but only searve it at room temperature. How long does it stay good out of the fridge?

Thanks for all the storage advice but I am more wondering about the heating of it. Are you supposed to searve it a room temperature or warm it up. (I know how to warm it up) I am just wondering if warming it isn't good for it.

The link below will be helpful. I always tell moms to print it and put it on the fridge.
You CAN heat it up. DO NOT microwave it though. Microwaving can break down the good components in the milk AND it can cause hot spots that could burn baby. The best way to warm it up is to have a bowl or mug of hot water and float the bottle in that for a little while.
You can serve it cold, just take the chill off, serve it room temp or warm it up a bit more. It just depends on what YOUR baby seems to like.
Human milk will last about 10 hours at room temperature.

About 4-6 hours.
It's recommended not to heat it up in a microwave, but you can put a bottle or a storage bag of it in warm water, or just let it sit until it's room temp. Microwaving it causes it to heat unevenly.

I pump my milk twice per day.
You can warm refrigerated breastmilk in a cup of warm water (or by running warm water over it. It is never recommended to put breastmilk or formula in a microwave. Freshly pumped breast milk can stay good for up to 4-6 hours in room temperature because it has anti-bacterial qualities.

You might want to look up your local La Leche League organization they are wonderful people who would have all the answers concerning breast feeding and provide you with all the support you need during this time, I use to be a member and also breast fed my child, but its been 14 years now and I've forgotten all of that. Look in the white and yellow pages of your phone book, call your local clinics or even your OB/Gyn. Good Luck

Long enough for the baby to feed. Freeze it and thaw it in the refrigerator. The milk will seperate if left out very long

8 days in the fridge in a breastmilk storage bag. Lansinoh makes really good breastmilk storage bags and nursing pads.

breast milk can be frozen for up to 3 months, you can thaw it but do not refreeze it. You can store breast milk in the frig for about 3 days. Check out Laleche.org for additional info
