how did puritan women dress and how can i recreate the look?

for a haunted house im supposed to be in lol i didnt know i was supposed to dress like a puritan woman until like 10 minutes ago and the haunted hosue is tomorrow

Puritan women dressed very modestly and in sombre colors like black. The words puritan came from purity. They settled much of New England and Oliver Cromwell who ruled England between 1649 and 1660.

Puritans chose a plain style in all things including costume. Makeup was banned and colourful dresses were banned as well. Soldiers used to roam the streets under Cromwell and take off makeup from women who were wearing it similar to the situation in Iran and Saudi Arabia. If she looks good in the dress ..say so, if she doesn't, then politely suggest she try something else . She knows she's big. She just wants your opinion on how the dress looks on her.

I don't know what is the haunted house,but i suggest to dress like is winter and this because can't dress sumarly like in summer.If is a question it is trouble.So this is my solution.

White bonnet, plain white blouse, preferably rounded collar, and a black or grey smock dress. No make-up, no jewellry.

wear a long dress like no shape to it tho... (like a blue or burgundy NOT BRIGHT THO) wear a bonnett... wear black shoes...
