There are a couple that I can suggest: i wont give away any spoilers about the story though!
1) Les Miserables - Queens Theatre 7-30. This is based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same name. Its one of the best loved and well thought of musicals. By the way you ask your questions Im guessing this is going to be your first west-end show? This might be a bit heavy - but it has the most fantastic tunes and a wonderful, very moving story. Not really one if youre planning on taking kids for the first time
2) The Lion Kind - The Lyceum 7-30. Obviously an adaptation of the Disney film but don't let that put you off! It is one of the most sumptious shows on the west end and a complete spectacle for the eyes. The music isn't half bad either! Excellent entertainment for your first show.
3) Blood Brothers - Pheonix 7-45. About two brothers from Liverpool. Known as the standing ovation musical because the last number always gets a standing ovation! Very moving.
4) Phantom of the Opera - Her Magesty's 7-30. Andrew Lloyd Webber gets a lot of unfair cruticism in my opinion. This show is undoubtably his best. Very atmospheric with some great tunes, fantastic action and dancing and some gorgeous sets. Definately one to see.

I dont know if "The Producers" is on at Drury Lane yet, but that is very very funny and works just as well - if not better - on stage than it does on screen. I've also heard really really good things about "Wicked" in the Apollo but I haven't seen it myself...yet!
Hope this helps

Dirty Dancing I have not seen but the reviews have been very good.
Spamalot if you enjoy Monty Python humour

You should either go to see either The Producers or Chicago, they are both excellent shows. If you have children, you should go and see Mary Poppins.

You are able to get cheap tickets to shows by going early to the Half Price tickets booth in Liecester Square, if you get there about 10am, you will see the queue of people waiting and this is where you buy the tickets for that days performances.

The Lion King is brilliant, so is Mary Poppins.
I've heard that Dirty Dancing and Wicked are also very good.
Stomp is ok but not brilliant.
