I visited Canada this summer, As I traveled through Canada, they are call Provinces. I was in the Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, and Sashkateswan. The road signs said I was entering the Province of ---- along the way. I have pictures which say so. Territories are an area of land. A Province is an area of governed land away from the capital of the country and an area of knowledge. A territory is a region.

Provinces have more local decision-making powers, and are obligated to provide certain services. The territories do not have the resources or the population to meet those levels, and rely on the federal gov't more.
