Plants can be grown in any season. I have my Fall garden planted now. I am growing cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, parsley, and peas. Right now you can also grow lettuce and cauliflower. This summer I grew tomatoes, peppers, and beans. I even had some other crops in the springtime. Spring and Summer is generally nice for a garden. In the Fall and Winter I like watching the cabbage turn into balls, they take a long time to mature but they are so good homegrown.

is the best site for questions and answers. If I were a beginning gardener, I would start in the spring after the last frost date. If you can't make it until then, I would force bulbs in the house as they are so much fun to grow. Try an amaryllis (Walmart, anywhere to find a kit), you can also easily force hyacinth bulbs in water......also fun are paperwhite bulbs (a kind of narcissus) ...I just put rocks or pebbles in the bottom of a container and let the paperwhite bulbs bought at any local nursery sit on the rocks not in water but on top....lets the roots of the bulb grow down to the water. They emit a fragrance all over the house...you don't need but 5 to a container......

Spring and Summer....for outside. You can grow many houseplants all year long. After all danger of frost for your area, you can plant outdoors. Happy gardening.

It depends on the plants you want to grow. Your best bet would be to look up information on the plants. PLanting information should include when to plant.
