International Conservation of Energy and Resources Treaty

The E.U. and American governments could create an international conservation treaty, a natural resources conservation effort with the real actual target goal to, while keeping prices down, have every nation that signs restore it's enviroment, become renewable enviromentally safe energy independent and become completely enviromentally and economically at bare minimum, viable, self sustainible and self seffcient, and at desired level, both economically and enviromentally thriving, looking solely within its own borders for natural resources and common goods.

Then the devolping world governments and the third world's governments could be convinced, diplomatically multi-laterally and with our allies, to sign on to and pass legislation to devolp economically only in enviromentally friendly ways.

This is critically importent For the Enviroments and Economy of every nation, no matter the form of government or economy.

Well of course, building political will is a problem, but when the rich and powerful realize that the only way for them to keep making money and maintain power is if there is BOTH a healthy enviroment and economy, and it's obvious maintaining power and wealth is in there own best intrest no matter what there ethics or morals are. I would say greed and selfishness in this case should be a good incentive to do this because you can't have an economy without an enviroment to have it in, not only that the rich and powerful will be the first to sign up for any life extension technology that comes about so they have a direct intrest in having a good planet to live on they may be here for a lot longer then what we consider a single lifetime, self intrest sounds like a good reason to not be short sited, if you ask me.

As for the enforcement part, that would come from the rich and powerful, them being the ones who actually enforce things anyway, and even if just the united states implamented such changes it would help slow down the destruction of the enviroment drastically as well as help the war effort by keeping energy and gas prices down, and moving towards energy independence, while creating a whole eco-friendly industry at the same time based on restoring the damage we've done to the enviroment so far and fully protecting it from further damage, as well as helping keep endangered species alive and helping them recover there numbers, as well as fighting global warming better.

All I will say is look at the mining deaths earlier this year in the U.S. Passing said laws would be great in theory, problem is enforcing them. People don't care if it doesn't effect them personally. As it is they gripe about social programs to take care of the less fortunate; imagine spending the money needed to convert houses and businesses into eco-friendly dwellings. Good idea but without a massive change in thinking it is not going to happen.
