Your question is if they buy two seat tickets, should they be entitled to 2 meals? ...yes - one meal per seat...
yes I have flown with "fat" people sitting next to me, and they have pinched my body or over-taken my body. Over-weight peole do not ask about sharing the arm rest, they own it... I watched an over-weight (read fat) woman try to slink into a regular seat and she lost weight trying to push herself into the seat. These people know they are infringing on others, but they don't want to say anything lest they be charged more for flying to their beloved destination. Truth is you can pretend you are not fat. But if you can't squeeze into the assigned seat, you probably need to consider weight reduction. The airline seats probably represent a typical size seat, yet the over-weight person will probably deny they are are over-weight. Don't turn a blind eye and declare it is a hormone problem that "they" don't understand. Be honest and fix yourself...then attack other real-world problems

Tsk, tsk people...
First of all, anybody with vision can see that airline seats are designed to sqeeze in as many passengers as possible to get as many fares as possible per flight....capitalism at it's best.
Secondly, most of these airplanes were designed before there was such a thing as an obesity epedimic. Hate it or not, the majority of people in the US, and now the UK, are overweight - it's a cold, hard fact.
People of all sizes find it necessary to travel at some point in their lives, so here's a suggestion....
For those of you who want to be nice and Lazy-Boy comfy on future flights you can...
a) purchase a ticket in 1st class and travel in comfort and luxury
b) demand that airlines do more to accomodate the public, those who can use the extra space, and those who are being made uncomfortable by the unintentional infringement on their space.
c) take your own advice to the obese...buy an extra ticket, that way you're guaranteed to have space just in case you find yourself seated in the same row as someone who's gravitationally challenged...I think that if an obese person is going to be FORCED to pay for an extra ticket, depending on how it balances out they should automatically be bumped up to first class, if they have to pay, they might as well get the full benefit.
I assure you, anyone who has a weight problem would rather not have to travel in such discomfort or have to share space with people who regard them with such disdain....double the discomfort. And imagine how it feels for someone who has hypothyroidism or some other condition and can't help being overweight because they basically have no real metabolism, knowing that the person next to them can only think terrible things about them being a size they don't want to be and how uncomfortable it makes them....triple the self consciousness and discomfort. You think you can't wait to get off that flight? Think about how they must feel!
So for those of you who are obnoxious enough to think that fat people are an inconvenience, stop to think, there's something about you that others find annoying...probably starting with the fact that - you're obnoxious! I mean, nobody's perfect. Right?

I have been next to a fat guy on a plane and it wasn't comfy, then the other guy next to me was a little heavy too. Im not skinny either but not obese, yet I felt squeezed by the two guys.
I think it is good for airlines to make more room for big people. Amusement parks too, Ive seen too many people trying to squeeze in the seats.

I have friends who are not skinny and I don't think people should have to be. You are obviously telling us these people are morbidly obese, and THAT is a different story. When you're so big that you have to take up TWO seats and you have to pay for them, then you have to think to yourself "hmm.... MAYBE they were right... I shouldn't have eaten that entire rotisserie chicken...'' And I knew a girl who actually DID. She came to lunch, 350+ lbs and she would sit at lunch and bring her chicken from boston market or wherever she got it, and she would sit and eat the ENTIRE thing til it was GONE. We all sat in total AMAZEMENT. Another girl asked if she didn't mind giving her a leg and she gave her an evil glare and finally handed her a gristly little wing. That's disgusting. When you're so huge and you eat so much. Ugh, I can't do it. I can't talk about it anymore, I wanna go work out. I don't even eat chicken, people are nasty! There are seriously no words for people who litterally cannot control themselves. Disgusting, yes. That's one, but there are so many more I can't even NAME them all.
I definately dont think they're bad people, but it just disgusts me with I see people jsut SHOVE food into their mouths like that. If you were that big and ate like a bird, I would have no problem with you, I just hate people who eat fast, large portions and extra sloppy. Like I said, I have big friends, but they eat like normal people, a little more, yes, but still like normal people.

Although it sucks to have to sit next to obese people, you cannot totally blame them for this problem. Yes it's their fault MOST of the time that they're fat, but.. unless you're sitting in first class, airplane seats run pretty small in general. Fat people have to travel too, and I suggest either you demand the airlines to build larger seats, utilize other transportation, or sit down and shut your mouth.

They should have to buy two tickets. But please, no way should they get two meals. That's the last thing they need.
