Subtract the weight under water from the weight in air and this is you stones volume (in ccs) divide the weight in air by the volume. Now you have the stones density. If it is a diamond, the density will be 3.51 g/cc

Taking it to a jeweler is the best option, however, I've heard that some diamond synthetics reflect light differently in oil than real diamonds.

Well with my diamond ring when i hold it at a certain angle you can see different colors shining off of the diamond. If you don't see any colors than it could be fake. Another way you can tell is if you go to your local mall, you can take it to any Jeweler and he can test the heat in it. All Diamonds have heat in them. That's how they tell. Good Luck!!!

Go to a jeweler. Hard to tell between diamond and cerconia.

Take it to a jeweler and get it appraised. It's the only way to know for sure if it's real or not.

Unless you are a jeweler, you probably can't.
How can I tell? Take it to a jeweler.
Zircons will also cut glass...

know its sounds silly, but for a fast check till you get to a good to a store, do it like your gonna clean your sun glasses, if the stone stays foggy, its probally not real
