Just wondering, but is it even remotely possible to print to a network printer over the internet. Let's say the computer is on the other side of the world. Does the computer need special access? No put downs please, just a general question.

Most networks in the world block outside access, especially to things like printers. This helps to protect the service from being abused.

So, in most cases, you will need "special" access to enter a network and use its printers, but assuming that access is allowed by you, you can print anywhere in the world as long as there is an internet connection.

It is entirely possible to set up a printer so that anyone in the world can use it, but how will they get what they printed? :)

I do it all the time. You have to have access permission, and winxp helps, though the software is available for older versions too. I work from home occasionally, using their computer, and I just tell the file to print in the normal way. They have "my" computer set up for several of their printers, so I can print b/w or color, or send to negatives for actual on-press printing.

Yes it is. If it allows network access, and you have access to that network, you can print from anywhere in the world.
