i've been spotting for the past couple days (so NOT normal.) I can usually pinpoint the exact day I start, and it lasts for about 6 days. But this time around I was a day late, and been spotting like once maybe twice a day. I'm really anxious, trying not to think about it, but I really want to know if I'm pregnant or not. I would love to be, even though I'm young - I could raise a child.
Just wondering if spotting is normal if I was pregnant, instead of having a period????

FYI I am a week late, but I've been spotting lightly (I don't count this as a period because its not one).
I know what days it is supposed to come, and what it is, and this isnt it.
I am 18 and I can make my own decisions for those who are giving me "smart aleck" answers. I'm just looking to see what other people have gone through in a situation like this before.

I want to say that you are young to have a baby...

I had my first child at 15. I was on the pill. I now have 3 kids and I am a little older..

Please take B.C. It is not easy. I was very lucky I stayed with the father of my kids until a few years ago. we are Best Friends now. I was never on any help from the state.. You need to enjoy you're life while you can.

It really does not sound like you are pregnant.. STRESS will give you all the signs.....

Good Luck and Take the advice I gave you. It is very hard...

Take the time to GROW UP...

No, Jessica, spotting when you are pregnant is not normal. Buy an over the counter home pregnancy test to be sure. The one day type is really accurate and costs about $12 to $18. By the way, raising the child isn't the hard part, supporting him/her without a good income is. How do you make a living and find a constant babysitter you can both afford and trust for what you can make? Welfare is harder and harder to get, and if you are under 18 you can't get it at all now. Don't give up, life is precious. Don't ever be ashamed or afraid to ask for help. Good Luck!

Make an appt with the Dr for a blood test to done. That is a for sure yes or no. Please don't take this the wrong way but wouldn't you want to give your child everything you possibly could? Like a more stable family life. I know that women do this everyday and that is raise a child on their own. However I am sure that if they had a choice they also would have the father involved or would like to be married with someone who can provide stability. Even in same sex couples it is still believed to have a partner to help raise a child. Good luck and blessings

Yes to the last question. Spotting is common during pregnancy, particularly in the beginning. I would recommend doing an at home pregancy test and definitely see a doctor ASAP. When in doubt you should see a GYN for something like this.

If in the event you are pregnant prenatal care is important to establish as early as possible.

Good Luck and Be Well

If you should have started take a test, especially if you have any other symptoms (nausea, fatigue, bloating, heartburn) I would say that there is a good chance that you are. Many women spot for during their "missed period" and don't think anything of it and turn out to find out they are pregnant almost a month later when they miss they next one. I actually had a full blown period and I am now 7 months pregnant, I'm being kicked right now, so believe me it is possible!

Spotting does not mean that you are pregnant all the time.. Because sometimes when your period is on the way, you can begin spotting. However, you could also be pregnant...

The best way too know for sure is too take the pregnancy test.. Good Luck!!!

This is sometimes a small sign of pregnancy but also a sign of stress from worrying about being pregnant most likely. I know because I was involved in similar situation before. Take a test.

This could be implantation bleeding. since your already late i would get a home pregnancy test and take it or go to your local health department or planned parent hood and have a test done.
Sometimes women will spot like that when the fertlized egg implants in the uterus. Please get yourself tested and refrain from smoking, drinking or other harmful activities until you know for sure. Good Luck!

If you are spotting it is possible you are pregnant. Start taking folic acid or pre-natual pills just in case. Folic acid provent spinal problems in the baby which can only be fixed the first 24 days of pregnancy.

Good luck.
