If he is talking to you on IM he must like you to start with so you don't have to try that hard. Listen to what he tells you. Show interest. Ask questions about him that require more complex answers than yes or no. Don't talk about other guys like old boyfriends etc. Ask him what he likes in a girl but don't try to be something your not. Guys see right through that instantly. You should laugh at his jokes (unless they are really lame :) but you'll have to do that in person since it is kinda hard to laugh via IM. Remember dont be too forward like asking him out because guys like the chase. Good luck - but you won't need it! He is into you already!
Oh after reading other respondants ...I had to add ...You don't have to sound like a cheap ho to flirt. Skip goin to extremes like telling him what your NOT wearing.

just start with normal questions like how they are and what they have been doing etc. flirting jus kinda comes be whitty and funny ask to play games like questions and senarios where you take turns to ask, i cant really explain how to flirt online but if you just get chatting and be a bit random...works for me! :P just show a bit more interst in him, but dont make it to desperate or obvious...hope it wrks out 4 ya! :)

tell him to hang on a minute because you have to change into your pjs for bed ~ tell him some songs that you like and make them hot (sexyback, promiscuous, etc) ~ tell him that you want to go see The Departed b/c your friend tell you there was a really hot love scene in it with Leo DiCaprio ~ have fun and be yourself, sweetie!
