Start out by making a list of things you can't do in 8th and want to be able to do. Then pick something from that list that interests you. Good Luck

Here are a few choices to choose from:

- longer lunch time (you can say it gives kids a chance to re-focus)

- able to use the utilities in the staff room, such as the fridge and microwave (you can say that this will encourage kids to bring healthy lunches to school)

- the privledge to have fun while learning eg, more outdoor activities and games(you can say that this will keep kids focused and intrested in learning, also a benefit for people who are kenitic learners)

I hope this helps, and good luck on your essay!!

Do it about (school) spirit. Thats definatly a privilage, and I'm sure your teaher would be impressed at that. Here's an example one iwrote last year:

As Wallace Stevens once said, “Time is a horse that runs in the heart, a horse without a rider on a road at night. [and] the mind sits listening and hears it pass.” The thing is, when do you know time has passed you and flown by? How do you know when to let it and when to set up gates and make it wait? People say they don’t have time, but they do. Or do they? Sometimes I’m forced to wonder whether people actually have time for showing spirit. So many people act as if they don’t, that maybe it’s true. Wouldn’t that be a horrible world? You need to make time for spirit. I believe that people are just too scared to show spirit though. First of all, they need to know the meaning of spirit to start; they can’t make excuses if they don’t. Then again, people shouldn’t make excuses at all. But why are they scared anyway?
The first thing to do to solve this problem, is to find out what spirit really means. Is it a joke between friends or the laugh of a toddler? Is it a ghostly ghoul, or the flame in a brave man’s heart? Or is it the dreams of a hopeless romantic, or maybe a school cheer? Spirit is all of these things and more. It’s something that you have, and something that you aspire to attain. Spirit is something you need to make the last leg of a race, and something you give when a friend is sad. So, is it really possible to have no spirit, or to show no signs of spirit? Of course not, but sometimes a person is too straight-minded to notice it. The spirit inside you then acts as an old trunk stored away deep in the mind, gathering dust. This is a shame, but at least there’s some comfort in knowing that it will always be there.
Now what about time? I don’t see how people can be out of it. It’s never-ending, and yet the phrases “I’m busy”, “Call again later” and “Don’t have time!” seem to be very popular in the modern world. People give themselves boundaries, for many things, not just time. They seem to have no problem breaking others, so why not this one? Maybe spirit is something that people are scared of, like the ferocious gods of the Middle Ages. But how? If spirit is truly everything, then are people really that scared of reality? I guess so. People have created this big world filled with new technology and machines, and it’s gotten ahead of them. People are scared of the world they’ve created. So really this boundry of time is just something created to comfort people.
People shouldn’t make excuses to get out of showing they have spirit. All this “I gotta go” stuff, phooey! Christine in my class is always telling jokes and smiling in the halls. It always cheers me up just walking by her. Why would anyone not want to be that happy with life? I remember one time when she was doing this little spinney thing, her skirt flew right up in front of the window; it was hilarious! Instead of getting all upset, she just laughed it off and did it again. Now, picture a business executive doing that. It’s just not happening. Sometimes people’s jobs and status affect how people act. If you were, say, a hot-dog vendor, and you sold 10,000 hotdogs, you’d be pretty happy and maybe even jump around a bit. Now, if a stock broker just sold 10,000 stocks on Wall Street, you’d be, once again, happy, but there’d be no jumping. Also, you may just think “Oh. Well ‘Yippee!’ now I have to do it all over again”. Still, you shouldn’t have to make excuses, and some people (Such as the stock broker I mentioned) think that their jobs make good ones. You just have to put your tail to the wind!
In conclusion, there is no excuse good enough for not showing spirit. It is clearly everything. Everything that people are scared of and everything people try to make excuses to avoid. But why is that? Most likely because of either their jobs or status. However, it’s quite possible for just the whole “spirit” thing altogether as being just too big. Spirit is a huge topic. It covers everything and nothing, the right way and the wrong way all at the same time. This non-existence is most likely what scares people off. They don’t want to think about things that have that much meaning. It’s there though, and will always be there to comfort and hold, to fear and to support.

It may be hard to turn something like that into a persuasive essay but i still think you could do it...

I would go with the ability to have a life. People in other countries can't have friends or go to school because of what it costs. That would get you a great grade for you because teachers wil most likely agree with what you are saying.

Hope that helps!!!!
