Plain and simple...
I would change the price of the tickets so the rest of us could afford to go to EVERY game. And that's saying alot about ticket prices because my husband makes good money. Season tickets are from $1,000 to $6,000! You have to think about the people who have to travel out of state to see their team and all the expenses just for that. I just think ticket prices are ridiculous. I watched an Atlanta game and there were hardly any people in the lower level seats, but the upper levels were jam packed. Which says something right there.
I also think there should be a tv station dedicated to nothing but hockey. There's always more than one game at the same time so you should be able to pick which one you want to watch and watch it.
Just an idea.

Excellent suggestions so far.
However, the biggest thing I would change is back to the old NHL schedule, where all teams play all teams. Who cares about travel times when the players are making millions!??!
I also agree with:
Lower ticket prices
No-touch icing
One referee

I would change the marketing campaigns to reach the audiances that aren't being reached.
I would change the broadcasting to educate the new (and potentially-new) fans. //// Educate = the rules, the backgrounds of the players, behind the scenes stuff (off-ice), the politics of the game, the history of the game, the differences of today's game and yesterday's game.... etc.
I would also like to see these old, boring coaches be replaced with PEOPLE that get as excited as the players.

There is a huge influx of Euro players and the game that we all want to see is the open ice game so I say that we widen the rink to Euro dimensions and see how that opens up the ice. Either that or get back to the days of the 80s with all the fights.

i would let the fights go on longer, it just makes it more fun! But, someone could get really hurt so I know they wont change that rule! I also think they should change there icing calls back to the way it was, i am still confused with the changes!

Bag the crap franchises and get the teams down to 24...and I'm not talking slash and burning the new teams in the South altogether as some are solid (TB, Dal, Car now).

No-touch icing. That would speed up the game even more without having someone slowly skate back to his end to touch the puck in order for the whistle to be blown.

I'd make it more physical and fire Bettman, let the goalies play the puck more and fire Bettman, let the goalies have slightly larger equipment and fire Bettman, contract and relocate teams to a 20 team, 4 division format that has 12 teams qualifying for the playoffs and fire Bettman, fire Ed Snider after I fire Bettman.

I'd definatly have to go with more games between all teams. I mean Flames/Oilers, Kings/Ducks games are great to watch, but i'd like to see some more east coast teams, as well as other conference games.
