lets see.. stock up on water. drought means it doesnt rain for a couple of days, weeks, or even years

the better question is what should people do to 'prepare' for a drought.

Start by conserving water, turn off the tap while you brush teeth, have a bucket in the shower to give the plants the run-off water later. Grow plants that are waterwise, install drippers in the garden, wash your car by bucket on the lawn. It's not much but every drop saved counts. I live in Australia and and a large amount of our country is drought-stricken. The government is giving new homeowners a rebate if they install rainwater tanks when they build houses. So people should make every effort not to WASTE water! Then, you could always pray for rain! Google Planet Ark they have really good drought tips. Hope it helps.

We should definitely stock up on water. The heat will be up most likely during the drought, so maybe some comfortable clothes.

I agree with the first post/answer!! Hope that Helps!!!

Some communities within the United States buy water (gets pumped in) from towns that have extra. Some more rual areas will "irragate" meaning building canals (waterways) that divert water from another area.
