Appearance-wise, there isn't any big difference. A french manicure is acheived with clear and opaque white polish painted on top of your real nail. French tips (aka "Soler nails" or "Pink and white") refer to the color of acrylic that's used. The fake plastic nail is glued to your real nail, a light pink layer of acrylic is apllied to the nail bed area and opaque white acrylic is applied to the tips. The advantage of this is to have the french look permanantly without the hassle of chipping like polish does.

Tips are usually plastic with an acrylic overlay, and of course the french manicure is when your regular nails are manicured and then finished with the french (white line at tip). Both look good, however it depends on how long you wish to keep your nails in this style. If you are just getting them done, but don't wish to be bothered with the long term fill ins etc that accompany acrylic i would suggest you go ahead with the basic french manicure. However, if you want to keep the french look long term, i would either go for the tips which are the nail extentions, or an acrylic overlay which goes over your real nails but allows for the varnish to stay on longer usually without much chipping. Long story short, as i mentioned before both turn out well, but it really depends on your level of commitment.

Your question is slightly perplexing, yet indexed lower than are some concepts you may want to bypass for in a salon: (A) Ask for a nail clipping, that's the position they are going to report, polish nd buff your owl nails with a french nail clipping end (B) Gel nail, that's the position they connect fake nails on your man or woman nails nd set them with nail glue and UV gentle. you may want to aask them to diminish the nails to a organic lenght that's what i do as i dont like having very lengthy nails (C) Shellac nails, that's new to the marketplace and maximum salons now attempt this, they paint over your man or woman nails similar to the nail clipping notwithstanding the polish lasts 3-4 weeks with out chips!! Its brillant, bit better extreme priced yet properly worth it in case you dont elect to damage your man or woman nails with gel or acrylic nails. wish this form of anwer your question :)
