Teaching high school requires a Bachelor's degree and teaching certification.

Teaching college normally requires a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree and preferably a PhD in your chosen subject area. College professors are also required to publish academic research on a regular basis.

Before choosing a teaching path, consider WHY you want to be a teacher. Does working with young people appeal to you? How many years of post-secondary education do you have / want to obtain? Can you afford to spend 8+ years in university getting a PhD? Are you interested in publishing research?
