I try my best to not use stereotypes on any race. I've been stereotyped before as being a dirty Mexican when really I'm just a Latino -not Mexican- trying to adapt to this country living in a nice house and with two cars. I think the reason that many people have a bad impression of blacks is because only the worse-behaving ones are the ones who get all the attention. Same thing happens with Latinos, people think we all drink on Sundays, speak nothing but Spanish, and have the crappiest jobs. Why do whites not get as much critcism? They're the majority. I just ignore stupid people and hang out with those who accept me regardless of their race.

My opinion is that there's a lot of bad info coming from the media about blacks and people of other colors. In some parts of the country, the only information people get about blacks comes from the tv or newspaper. (For example: I live in an area where most people are white or hispanic. I don't get to see the way that blacks live).
P.S. No, I don't think all blacks live in the ghettos. I know it's just a stereotype.

Wow, scary to think that anyone would judge an entire race of people based on a first impression of a few....I'm pretty sure she'd be insulted if people regarded her as red-necked trailer trash just because their first experience may have been that. I kinda like to get to know people for myself, it usually works out great.
The reality is that there are good and bad in all races...images and stereotypes that some don't want to have reflected back on them. Racists never stop to think that they are the ones in their group with the negative image that others don't want to have unfairly attached to them.
I'd love to see more of the people who really are racist answer this question, I'm sure their answer would be just as feeble. Racists are cowards, that's why they hide.

No, I don't think all blacks are the stereotypical ghetto people who love rap and sex. I know lots of black people who dress conservatively, speak and write as well as an educated person and hate rap. (Loving the act of physical intimacy is universal among all races.) And I know quite a few white people who dress ghetto, speak in slang I can't understand and only listen to rap. (My cousin is one such person.) I think every group suffers from stereotypes of one sort or another.
Personally, I try to keep an open mind. Just because one black person may act a certain way doesn't mean that they are all going to act that way. Just as white people differ from person to person, so do black people. (As well as people of other races!) I judge people on their individual personalities, not their clothes or the color of their skin.

i agree with the other answers. racism is the belief that your race is superior because of lack of education in cultures and lifestyle. did you see that show 30 DAYS when a racist minute man went to live with a family of illegal immigrants and at the end saw the big picture. i'ts all in the way you live and what you come to believe. If people were not so feeble minded i think there would be less racism.

People are racist because the cant accept change.
Blacks arent the only people for are ghetto. whites are to. gheeto is not a color but a lifesyle. the way u are raised and where. i know plenty of very intelligent and respectable blacks. its all in the way you present your self. if u act like trash ull be treated that way. if u are acting like a respectable person and not talking like a babbling idiot and saying "where you at" when AT can not be at the end of a sentence then you are ok.. but acting ghetto is going to get you treated porly bc its stupid and not tolerated.

I'm not racist, but I think their are good and bad people in every race. If you are a gang member, a thief, a liar, cheat, abuser, or killer, then I do discriminate against you because I wouldn't want you in my neighbor hood, around kids, or schools. If you are a person of morals, respect and care about others, then I would be happy to know you.

Back in 8th grade this black girl in my class was very rude, loud, and mean. She would just cuss at people and make fun of them. So i started to hate her, but not just her i hated all the black people because i thought black people will be the same like her. One day i tripped during lunch, all my food were on the floor, i looked up and saw this black girl asked if i'm ok i responded "i'm ok thanks", she helped me up on my feet and then offered her lunch to me.
*The first part of my story shows why people (or me) are racist.
*The whole point of my story is that every race has nice and mean people.

it's not the difference of the color, I know some "white" black people and some "black" white people, it's all about the personality, the style of doing things and etc. some may call me a racist because i am not afraid to speak the truth, which is the we have differences, in personalities, in our crime rates, in our athletic abilities, our brains and etc.
