I am planning to do my masters degree, but it would be convenient for me to do it online. I want a good university that is well recognized in the states. I want to do my masters in Counselling or education.

good is relative in terms of online colleges. these are for-profit businesses so their main concern is stockholders, not you. of these the nationally known ones are ones like univ of phoenix, ITT and devry. some of the brick and mortar schools have also gone online as well like cornell and others. for your area on concentration I would suggest you look at all the options and their curriculum. many of these schools are simply diploma mills that take your money, screw around with your for a year or so then give you a piece of paper that says you accomplished something. I would look first into the state universitites near you to see if they offer online classes. at least with these kinds of schools you can go someplace to see someone and the name of the school will carry some weight. a masters from Cornell or some other nationally recognized school sounds a lot more appealing that a masters from phoenix online. think about that. DO NOT CALL THE ONLINE SCHOOLS UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO COMMIT. otherwise they will hound you to no end...ever. they are worse than collection agencies. so, look to "name brand" colleges first and see what they offer for your field. if there are none, then look to the bigger of the online colleges since they will have some weight to their name. do not go to the local cheapy online school simply bcuz of price. simply bcuz you'll get what you paty for when dealing with these kinds of schools.

I'm not sure about the specific fields you mentioned. Golden Gate University has a good online program. Also since it is an established university with a traditional campus the learning and tests are the same on campus or online.

Great programs. Talk to an advisor, they are a little pushy about a starting date, but very informative.

The cost seems high until you get all the details.
