Matter has three common "states", or ways of being: solid, liquid, and gas. Anything in the solid state can be considered frozen, while anything in the liquid state can be considered either condensed or melted, and anything in the gaseous state can be considered boiled or vaporized.

Since butter is solid at room temperature, it can be considered frozen.

Anything solid is frozen. There is a misconception that freezing only applies to water. Most materials have melting and freezing points (interchangable). The point where a solid changes state to a liquid depends on both temperature and pressure, and can be seen on a phase diagram. For most purposes, though, only temperature is specified because the pressure is assumed to be Earth's surface pressure 101.3kPa. Butter at room temp is frozen (assuming it is in fact solid), because its a solid.

Temperature is a measurement of the kinetic energy (movement energy) of the molecules in a substance. When something is frozen it is a solid, which means that the kinetic energy of the molecules is not great enough to cause them to fall apart into a liquid, where the molecules have enough energy that they can freely move around without bonding together. Heat it up even more and the molecules move so quickly they will form a gas.

The room temperature is very cold.

Actually, freezing means that the atoms have slowed down to the point that the 'butter', in this case, molecules line up and behave like a solid.

Could be considered a solid...not sure of it being called frozen. They are two serpate items.

One is property of the mass and one is temperature.

because its a solid. frozen isn't the actual term, so it doesn;t mean that it's actually ice, just that it's a solid not a gas or liquid
