I cant really speak for any of them, coz I'm neither emo or gothic, but I think that they dont really listen to the same kinda music 100%. I think goths are more into Metal and all that hard core stuff and that emo kid or whatever age they are kinda express them selves by looking the way they do (Black clothes, eyeliner..etc) and just to show ppl that their not okay,but listen to more varied music. I read a news article in the sunday times that said that emo music targets teenagers and encourages them to cause selfharm, which I dont think is necesarly true. I just think emo songs talk about alot. I hope that I have'nt offended anyone by what I wrote.

Being a goth is just a way of dressing and acting. Emos have usually been screwed up by some bad stuff that's happened to them, and they're really depressed.

a gothic person is pretty much an emo person that wears all black and eyeliner. an emo person just has spiked hair and tight pants.

Emo is very emotional, like they can't help themselves, but Goth is just a way to dress and act.

Yeah it's hard to tell the difference. If in doubt, don't mention it, as emos freak out if ou mistake them for goth.
Emos have that stupid hair thing going on though!

They look the same, but goth is dark and emo is just emotional (and possibly suicidal)

To me Emo is more on the dark punk side... and Goth is just dark.

emo usually sometimes listens to darker punk gothic really hates punk and is usually either drowning music or death metal

emo's are people that like to hurt themselves goth is just pretty much a look
