Children who attend high-quality daycare seem to develop basic social skills earlier than those who spend most of there time with 1-2 adults. The same is true for children who grow up with more than 2 siblings. Most child development folks will advocate adults taking a hands-off approach to specific dynamics and instead concentrate on enforcing norms. For instance, a daycare worker might focus on generally encouraging non-violent, inclusive behavior, while staying out of who plays what during imaginative play. This approach focuses on the social process rather than the social content, if that makes sense.

Use your own judgment and steer clear of all the child raising advice you will hear or read. Treat both instances of advice as you would bubonic plague; vigorous avoidance.
