I am a guard/conductor on the trains. Most of the youngsters get on to go one stop without any money or just refuse to pay and don't seem to think that it is wrong. I won't throw them off but I would like them to think more seriously about their actions, if possible.

As a person who has to stand all day, when I see a seat on public transport,I grab it! Kids bums still take up the space, or if they have a bag on the seat and it stays there I sit on it! The bag didn't pay for a seat! No I am not an old grump, just exhausted! Not a great answer for you, just letting off steam! Cheers :)

tell them that part of that fare- or a small percentage of it goes into the running of the train services and that if it didn't happen, train drivers would be unemployed and they'd be doing some other job. also, say that adults have to pay as it is and they have more responsibilities and duties compared to kids, such as some of them have kids and have to go to work for a living to provide their families with food on the table, as well as other necessities. tell them that if they pay up when asked to do so, they would be doing people who work at the train stations, like yourself a huge service, as well as not informing their parents about them not paying for their journey. plus, say to them also that if they don't pay up when expected to, you'd report them to the police.

They all know Father Christmas doesn't exist now, so you can't threaten them with that! You can't tell them that if they collect a hundred stubs they will get a free "genuine" Burberry cap because they'll just mug you! Hmm...

Tell them that by robbing the system the Puclic Transport system is having to cut bus routes. Then ask them if their Gran takes a bus to the doctor's.

I thought it was illegal to travel on a train without purchasing a ticket! Surely you can take their details and send a bill, or threaten them with a fine for travelling without a ticket / refusing to pay for a ticket - after all nothing in life is 'free'!

Tell them that any penny they pay is for your salary and for the company's income. If they don't pay, the company has no money to do its maintenance and this will cause a serious problem.

It is fair for everyone to pay for a journey. Tell them its a kind of exchange. If they want to go to somewhere, has to pay as an exchange of the service.

Without money coming in to support the trains and the people who make them run there wouldn't be any trains and you would have to walk.
