Yes -- I hardly ever do what other people tell me to do :)
My vacuum is bagless. And the word has 2 u's because it's derived from latin, where both u's were pronounced (as in vac-u-um) :)

and i think the reason for it having 2 u's is to give it that long 'u' sound...or else some people will pronounce it 'va-c*m'
