Santa, does the failed download give you any errors?
Look in your computer's Event Viewer (start-->run->eventvwr) in the Application Log for any MS Office errors (red ones are more important than yellows) and post them here as well as any popup errors you get. Could be lots of stuff going on... rather than taking blind guesses, I'd like a bit more detail!

publisher powerpoint and outlook ARE office 2003 so maybe it wont do it coz its already done.
u could try going into the control panel and uninstalling the other updates and then try it again.
if not u can always use system restore.
this is one of those problems id need to muck about with for a few hours before i could come up with a better answer. anyway my wifes crown has broken and iv just finished gluing it back together but iv also managed to glue my fingers together so im going to sort that oout first.

ohh, just thought of something else, sometimes laptops have to be plugged into the mains before they can perform certain updates.

btw when i say crown i mean her tooth, shes not royalty. although she is the queen of my heart.

If you are having troubles with installing windows updated here is a number to Microsoft they will be able to help you at no cost.
I recently was getting the same updates for about 8 days in a row , tech suport was able to resolve the problem, like I said at no cost.

Microsoft's # !-800-936-5700
