Sometimes my daughters guinea pig sounds like he is purring and other times he squawks really loud. Could someone please explain the differences? I would really like to know what he is doing? If anyone can help with these questions I would be really greatful. Thank you.

I would say it depends on what is happening to the Little bugger. Pet it like a cat and if it likes that attention then its making a purr like a kitty similar. Or if its upset it will make a different noise probably louder as it is in stress.... The more you play with it the more you will learn to understand. but with any pet be gentle. Feed it good food and make sure it has a clean bed. And plenty of Clean Fresh water... Don't be feeding it no beer or soda...Of course I know you wouldn't...

are you sure it is a male or a female ? both do different things if there is 2 animals , than could be a natural thing , but I am guess there is only one squawking to get attention from your daughter or hungry . and the purring , when he is really happy .
