Low profile tires are performance tires. Their mission is to improve braking, acceleration and handling-especially handling- and give an aggressive, customized look to your vehicle. Low profile tires improve handling mainly by deforming less during spirited driving. Disadvantages are that there is less, sometimes much less, rubber between the wheel and the road. Hitting a pothole or going off road easily (relatively speaking) will bend a wheel or damage the tire or both. The ride with low profile tires usually is stiffer. I can give personal testimony to the above. Look at what tires are on police cars. They are the best compromise between performance and practicality.

Handling will improve, and if you have a beefy engine they will get more traction if left at correct PSI.
They are expensive, and wear out quickly

They say handling and control is better but I think the bumps in the road feel worse.
