Interesting question. I have been researching some stuff on this. I think Bush invaded Iraq partially for oil, but not for the US's or any oil companies benefit. But rather for the fact that Iraq could have been able to use that money to rebuild their country after the war. Think about it, after the first Gulf War, the US thought that Saddam might have been kicked out of his country. It did not happen, so this time, the US did such. And with huge amounts of oil, could in theory, the Iraqi's very easily rebuild their country?

Now this is the connection to 9-11. Over in the middle East is where Osama is and his supporters. Well, if a democracy could have risen out of Iraq, by even helping fuel the countries he hates, could it not make Iraq a target for Osama instead of the US? This is one reason I believe Bush never really wanted the troops out until Al-Qaeda was put down. A democracy could rise in the middle east, that would have been very similar to the US. By having a point of such, it could spread. Not every country over in the middle east has the ability to self-sustain itself after their leader would be taken out. Now, imagine if Iraq did succeed in such a fashion. Other democracies in the middle east would be imminent, because the people would see the promise of Iraq, and want an overthrow of their govt. Since democracy would be risen, where would Osama hide? Where would Al-Qaeda hide? The US troops could easily pull out then. There would be no democracy that would want to house Osama or Al Qaeda

I don't support us going in to begin with but...

Pulling out too quickly would be a bad thing. The country would just implode.
